Celebrity socialite and nightlife mogul Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has officially announced his intention to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives in the 2027 general elections.
The businessman revealed his political roadmap via Instagram, confirming that he will run under the banner of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Addressing his followers, the “Celebrity Barman” described his move as a calculated attempt to position himself within the halls of federal power. He argued that influence from the opposition is limited, particularly regarding regional interests in the South-East.
A key pillar of his campaign, he noted, would be advocating for the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
“I no fit help Mazi Nnamdi Kanu from opposition,” he stated in Pidgin English. “I have always been an APC. My father, Governor Hope [Uzodimma], has worked hard on APC for me not to support him as DG Renewed Hope.”
The announcement marks a pivotal moment for the socialite, who was a visible figure in the “Obidient” movement during the 2023 elections. At the time, he openly campaigned for Labour Party candidate Peter Obi.
Clarifying that past alignment, Okechukwu explained that while he supported Obi in 2023, he was simultaneously serving as a Special Adviser to the Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma. He has now pledged full loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“Last election, as special adviser to Governor Hope, I worked for Peter Obi, but this time I dey with Asiwaju,” he confirmed.
Cubana Chief Priest emphasized that his 2027 ambition represents a shift from “online influence” to “direct political participation.” He maintained that the South-East needs younger, strategically placed actors who can negotiate effectively within the federal system.
