Akwa Ibom State is set to host its first-ever ‘Akwa Ibom Tech Week’ (AKTW 2025) in November 2025 in Uyo, an event anticipated to significantly boost the state’s technology sector. The landmark gathering aims to accelerate digital transformation, attract crucial investments, and foster socio-economic growth within the state.
Organizers, led by Hanson Johnson, President of Ibom Innovation Network LTD/GTE, stated that the initiative is born from a conviction in the “immense, untapped potential of Akwa Ibom’s youth and its vibrant spirit of innovation.”
“We recognized the critical need for a platform that could not only showcase this talent but also connect it with the resources, knowledge and opportunities required to truly flourish,” Johnson remarked.
The core objectives of AKTW 2025 are ambitious: to accelerate digital transformation across all economic sectors, draw substantial investment into the local tech ecosystem, and generate tangible socio-economic benefits through job creation, skills development, and groundbreaking innovation. Johnson articulated a vision for Akwa Ibom to transition from being primarily a consumer of technology to a significant producer and exporter of digital solutions.
AKTW 2025 is expected to feature a diverse array of participants, including global tech leaders, visionary entrepreneurs, influential angel investors, and venture capitalists keen on exploring Africa’s emerging tech landscape. The event program will include keynote speeches from pioneers in artificial intelligence and blockchain technology, engaging panel discussions featuring founders of successful African tech unicorns, and interactive workshops and masterclasses facilitated by industry experts.
Johnson extended an open invitation to all stakeholders. “We invite everyone passionate about driving digital innovation to connect with us through our website, social media channels, and dedicated outreach programs. Let’s build a brighter, digitally-powered future for Akwa Ibom together,” he urged, signalling a collaborative effort towards achieving the state’s digital aspirations.
