Governor Bala Mohammed Appoints Chinese Citizen As Economic Adviser

In a significant move to boost foreign investment and global partnerships, Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has announced the appointment of a Chinese national, Mr. Li Zhensheng, as his new Economic Adviser. The announcement came on Thursday during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the China Global Promotion Cooperation Research Centre in Bauchi.

Governor Mohammed explained that the appointment and the new partnership are part of a broader strategy to position Bauchi as an emerging center for international cooperation. The collaboration is expected to fast-track investment, infrastructure projects, and bilateral ties across key sectors, including agriculture, education, healthcare, manufacturing, mining, oil and gas, and trade.

“This agreement is not just about infrastructure—it’s about transforming lives. We are opening Bauchi to the world,” said Governor Mohammed. He added that the collaboration aligns with the diplomatic efforts between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Nigerian President Bola Tinubu, aiming to strengthen relations at both national and sub-national levels.

The newly signed MoU provides a framework for cooperation, with specific project agreements to be developed as needed. As part of the deal, a Bauchi State Representative Office will be established in China to oversee the implementation of projects and ensure they are delivered on schedule.

In his remarks, Mr. Zhensheng, who is also the Chairman of the China Global Promotion Cooperation Research Centre, pledged his organization’s commitment to supporting Bauchi’s economic transformation. “We are committed to helping Bauchi achieve sustainable growth, modern infrastructure and improved livelihoods,” he stated.

The partnership is expected to attract more foreign direct investment, create jobs, enhance local skills, and modernize key sectors, ultimately improving Bauchi’s global visibility.
