Former President Goodluck Jonathan has lauded former military Head of State, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB), on his 84th birthday, describing him as a committed and non-sectional leader who always sought the best for Nigeria.
Jonathan, who led a delegation of dignitaries to Babangida’s Hilltop Mansion in Minna to celebrate the milestone, noted that the former military president’s home has become a pilgrimage site for people from all walks of life seeking to tap into his wealth of experience.
“He is a committed leader, not a sectional one. He always wants the best for the country,” Jonathan stated during the visit.
Among the other dignitaries on the delegation was Segun Showunmi, a former spokesperson to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar. Showunmi praised Babangida as a leader with “audacity and big ideas,” emphasizing that his experience remains crucial for Nigeria as it navigates current and future challenges.
Babangida, who served as Nigeria’s military president from 1985 to 1993, is celebrated annually by many political and business leaders.
