OPEN LETTER TO THE SUSPENDED PDP STATE CHAIRMAN, CROSS RIVER STATE

Re: Unjust Removal of HE Sen. Liyel Imoke and Sen. Gershom Bassey from PDP Platform – A Call for Immediate Apology

Attn: PDP Southern & Central Senatorial District/Supporters.

C/O: Calabar South

Dear Sir,

It is with deep concern, disappointment, and righteous indignation that we, committed members and political supporters of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Cross River State, write to express our absolute displeasure over the recent, utterly disrespectful and politically reckless action taken by your office or under your watch, concerning the removal of HE Senator Liyel Imoke and Distinguished Senator Gershom Bassey from the PDP platform.

Let it be clearly stated that this brazen act is not only an insult to the legacy and leadership of two of the most respected elder statesmen of our party, but also a gross display of political immaturity and sabotage. It flies in the face of party unity, discipline, and the very principles upon which the PDP was founded.

HE Liyel Imoke, a former Governor and founding pillar of the PDP in Cross River State and Nigeria at large, deserves not only our collective respect but our consistent recognition. Sen. Gershom Bassey, a loyal party man and an intellectual force within our ranks, has shown commitment, discipline, and grace in the face of political trials. Any attempt to erase their contributions or treat them with contempt is an affront to all loyal PDP stakeholders, both young and old.

Our Demands

1. We demand a public apology within 48 hours from you, the State Chairman of PDP, directed to HE Liyel Imoke and Sen. Gershom Bassey, and by extension, to all PDP members and supporters who feel insulted by this action.

2. We demand an immediate reinstatement or restoration of any privileges, recognitions, or access unjustly denied to these two leaders.

3. We call on the National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP to immediately intervene and investigate the abuse of power and factionalization going on in Cross River State PDP under your leadership.

Consequences of Inaction

Failure to issue this apology within 48 hours will leave us with no option but to begin a full-scale mobilization of party faithfuls, political associates, and grassroots structures loyal to these distinguished leaders to resist this disrespect.

Let us remind you: PDP is not a personal enterprise. It is a party built on history, loyalty, and the collective sweat of people like Liyel Imoke and Gershom Bassey, long before some of you found your way into party leadership.

We will not sit by and allow political mischief or personal vendettas to erode the gains of our past or jeopardize our future. Enough is enough.

We hope wisdom will prevail over ego. The clock is ticking.

Austine Ibok

Concerned PDP Stakeholders, Supporters and Political Structures of HE Sen. Liyel Imoke & Sen. Gershom Bassey
