The Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem, on Sunday, April 12, 2026, joined family, friends, and well-wishers at the Birthday Thanksgiving Service held in honour of Her Excellency, Bishop Dr. (Mrs) Eyoanwan Bassey Otu, Wife of the Governor of Cross River State, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu.
The Thanksgiving, held at the Voice of God Christian Mission in Calabar, drew a large gathering of Cross Riverians who gathered in gratitude to God for the life, grace, and impactful service of the First Lady.
Ayambem described Her Excellency as a mother to many, a source of blessing, and a woman whose humanitarian efforts continue to touch lives across the state. He noted that her compassion, humility, and commitment to the welfare of women, children, and the vulnerable have earned her a special place in the hearts of the people.
The Speaker further expressed deep personal admiration for the First Lady, describing her as an inspiration and a guiding spiritual influence whose life reflects grace and purpose. He emphasized that his respect and loyalty to Her Excellency go beyond official engagements, rooted instead in genuine appreciation for her character and the positive impact she continues to make.
