In a significant move to elevate the standard of vocational and academic excellence, the Teachers Continuous Training Institute (TCTI), Biase and the Cross River State University of Education and Entrepreneurship (UEE), Akamkpa, have announced a strategic partnership aimed at institutional growth and human capital development.

The collaboration was formalized during a visit by the management team of UEE to the Director-General of TCTI, Professor Taoheed Adedoja. The visit featured a guided tour of the state of the arts facilities at the Institute including the ongoing World Bank IDEAS TVET program, where 300 youths of Biase extraction are currently undergoing a six-month intensive innovation training in computer, telephone and hardware maintenance, hosted by TCTI.

Speaking on Thursday, Prof. Adedoja, a former Minister of Sports and Special Duties, noted that the partnership aligns with the “people’s first” vision of Governor Bassey Otu to build a globally competitive workforce. The TCTI boss revealed that under his leadership the Institute has trained over 5,000 science teachers across the state.

“The collaborations we have fostered over the last four and a half years are set to yield significant impacts in training and financial outlays from 2026 onwards,” Adedoja stated, citing the current World Bank-funded training as a prime example of such successful grant attraction.

In his remarks to trainees, the Vice Chancellor of UEE, Prof. Patrick Asuquo, challenged the traditional “grammar-based” education system, asserting that UEE is set to blaze the trail in entrepreneurship. Professor Asuquo praised the transformational achievements at TCTI and pledged that UEE’s Consultancy Unit would work closely with TCTI to secure funding and research grants to better the varsity.

The partnership is expected to focus on four key pillars such as collaborative academic and technical inquiries, shared efforts in physical and digital development, knowledge sharing between faculty and staff, and attracting local and international grants to modernize both institutions.

The VC was accompanied by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Admin), the Registrar and the Bursar, while the TCTI management team, led by the DG had the Deputy DG Mrs. Mary Omaji, the registrar Mrs Rebecca Odumusor, Bursar amongst others.
