The Cross River State Councillors Forum has commended Governor Bassey Otu’s administration for two significant achievements: the acquisition of additional aircrafts for the state’s airline and the successful revitalization of the Cross River State Library.
The Forum, which represents councillors from all 196 political wards in the state, celebrated what they called the governor’s “People’s First” agenda expansion. They pointed out the recent purchase of two new Bombardier CRJ 1000s aircrafts, which will expand the fleet of the state-owned carrier, CallyAir.
Speaking on behalf of the forum, Honorable Eneji Sam Ashibi, the Council Leader of Obudu Local Government Area, stated that the new planes are a vital step toward enhancing accessibility and economic growth. “The acquisition of these aircrafts will drastically reduce travel time for visitors and residents, which is especially important during peak seasons like the yuletide,” Ashibi said. Councillor Eneji Ashibi emphasized that this move would significantly boost the state’s socio-economic potential and connectivity.
The councillors also extended their congratulations for the complete overhaul of the Cross River State Library complex, which according to them has transformed the facility into a modern, world-class hub for learning and research.
Honorable Ashibi, who represents the Utugwang North constituency, reiterated the forum’s support for the administration’s focus on progress and development. The collective commendation from the councillors shows a strong endorsement of the Governor’s strategic focus on both infrastructure and education as pillars for the state’s future.
The forum’s secretary, Honorable Raymond Akori Inaku from Ofumbongh/Yala Ward of Obubra Local Government Area, noted that the revamped library will be instrumental in improving educational outcomes across the state. “This new facility will improve access to digital learning resources and help to improve the quality of graduates at all levels,” the secretary stated. This initiative is seen as a major investment in the state’s intellectual capital and a commitment to fostering a knowledge-based economy.
“Governor Otu has done well in driving infrastructure development, and even our LV comes steadily too”.
