TVC’s Morayo Afolabi-Brown Reveals President Tinubu’s Role in Her Reinstatement

Popular media personality Morayo Afolabi-Brown has shared a personal story of how President Bola Tinubu, then out of office as the Lagos State governor, intervened to get her reinstated at Television Continental (TVC) after she was fired due to “internal politics.”

In a recent interview with media host Chude Jideonwo, Afolabi-Brown, known for anchoring the popular breakfast talk show ‘Your View,’ disclosed that she was unexpectedly dismissed from TVC three years into her career.

“Three years after I got into TVC, internal politics got me fired,” she recounted. “It was after I got fired that people started calling Asiwaju, saying, ‘Do you know whose child was sacked?'”

According to Afolabi-Brown, Tinubu was initially unaware of her identity. She quoted him as saying, “I am not aware,” before others, including Toyin Subair, Tunji Bello and her then-CEO, Mr. Lemmy, clarified her identity by referring to her as “Alao’s daughter.”

Afolabi-Brown revealed that Tinubu subsequently summoned her to his office to understand the situation.

“He called me to his office and said, ‘What happened?'” she said. “And that was how after a lot of back and forth, I got my job back, though I was demoted.”

She was, however quick to clarify that her initial employment at TVC was based purely on merit and not through Tinubu’s influence.

Afolabi-Brown recently resigned from TVC.
