The Vice Chancellor of the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS), Prof. Francisca Bassey, led a delegation of Council members and Management to the Government House, Calabar, where they presented the institution’s latest national award-winning inventors and their groundbreaking innovations to the Visitor to the University, His Excellency, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu.

At the presentation, Prof. Babson Ajibade showcased his BMV-6 Medical Ventilator, while Engr. Dr. Joseph Ukpata unveiled his Automatic Gari Fryer. A pitch video of the BMV-6 was displayed to the Governor, highlighting its global uniqueness and pending representation of Nigeria and Cross River State at an upcoming international exhibition in London.
Governor Otu, visibly impressed, applauded the innovations, describing them as remarkable breakthroughs from UNICROSS. He requested a proposal for the London exhibition and pledged to fund the trip. He also expressed interest in acquiring units of the Automatic Gari Fryer for state agricultural projects, emphasizing that Cross River State would be given priority in purchasing the product.
In his words, “when the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice,” underscoring his excitement over the innovations and UNICROSS’s rising profile under Prof. Bassey’s leadership.
Prof. Bassey, in turn, expressed profound appreciation for the Governor’s support and attentiveness to the university.
She was accompanied by Prof. Mrs. Akon Joshua (Council Member and former Acting VC), Mrs. Catherine Ajibike (Council Member), Prof. Mrs. Stella-Maris Okey (Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic), and Mr. Idim Effiom Ekenem (Acting Registrar).
