The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has officially released the timetable for the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream Two orientation course. The three-week program is scheduled to take place simultaneously across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
In a statement released Wednesday, Mrs. Caroline Embu, Director of Information and Public Relations, detailed the roadmap for the upcoming service year, emphasizing logistical deadlines and safety protocols for prospective corps members (PCMs).
Commencement/Registration April 22 – April 24, 2026. Registration Deadline Midnight, April 24, 2026. Swearing-in Ceremony April 24, 2026
Official Closing Ceremony May 12, 2026.
A significant portion of the announcement focused on the transit safety of Nigerian graduates. Mrs. Embu reiterated the scheme’s long-standing policy against night journeys, urging participants to prioritize their lives over reaching the camp quickly.
“Prospective corps members are advised to break their journeys once it is 6:00 p.m. and pass the night at any available lodge or secure location nearby. They are to continue their journeys the following morning,” the statement read.
Following the conclusion of the orientation course on May 12, corps members will be posted to their respective Places of Primary Assignment (PPA) to begin their year of service.
Established in 1973, the NYSC remains a compulsory one-year program for Nigerian graduates under the age of 30. Its primary mission continues to be the promotion of national unity and cultural integration by deploying youths to serve in states other than their own.
