In a recent interview on Mic On Podcast, on Saturday, August 29, 2026, Biodun Ajiboye, Director General of the National Institute for Cultural Orientation and an APC chieftain, criticised former Vice President Atiku Abubakar over his political activities and presidential ambition ahead of the 2027 election.
Ajiboye questioned Atiku’s record in governance while responding to the former vice president’s criticisms of the Tinubu administration and his continued interest in contesting for the presidency.
According to Ajiboye, “Atiku Abubakar has no value to add to governance; Nigerians should tell him to go and rest.” He made the statement while arguing that Atiku had failed to demonstrate the political and governance credentials necessary to convince him that he should become president.
The APC chieftain criticised Atiku’s repeated attempts to win the presidency, arguing that his continued electoral defeats should prompt him to reassess his political strategy.
Ajiboye also questioned Atiku’s record as vice president, saying Nigerians should examine what he described as his achievements while serving in government before considering him for another opportunity to lead the country.
He compared Atiku’s political journey with that of former President Muhammadu Buhari, arguing that Buhari eventually identified the political limitations affecting his presidential campaigns and addressed them by building broader alliances.
Ajiboye maintained that Atiku had not demonstrated a similar ability to identify and correct the weaknesses that had affected his previous campaigns.
He also defended Tinubu’s economic reforms, arguing that the president inherited serious economic problems and had chosen to implement difficult measures rather than postpone them.
