As political alignments build toward the 2027 general elections, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Cross River Central Senatorial District, Hon. Oden Ibiang Ewa, has charged the people of Etung Local Government Area to remain steadfast, warning against external political distractions.
Speaking on Friday during a festive visit to Prince Ebuta Ayuk at his country home in Effraya for the Etung New Yam Festival, Ewa described the forthcoming elections as critical to the region’s future.
“This is not a time to negotiate or play with our future,” Ewa told teeming supporters. “We will not throw away our votes. Those votes are very important to us—they are our tool. We must leverage those votes and turn up the highest number of votes ever produced in Etung.”
Addressing the crowd, Ewa cautioned that upcoming polls face threats from elements who “do not mean well” for the local populace. He rallied constituents to deliver a decisive block vote for the APC’s full ticket for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Bassey Edet Otu, “myself”
Hon. Oden Ewa, Hon. Blessing Egbara, Hon. Kingsley Erim and the APC.
Ewa emphasized that the ruling APC remains the nation’s sole progressive platform actively building long-term economic infrastructure.
Acknowledging current economic pressures, he assured supporters that foundational structures are being laid behind the scenes.
As evidence of federal alignment benefiting the state, Ewa highlighted the recent visit of First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu to Calabar, where she presented N25 million to victims of the SPAR fire incident on behalf of the President. Hon. Ewa noted that such interventions show Cross River State is positioned at the center of national governance and must stay there.
Earlier in the event, the coordinator of the APC Central Alliance in Etung formally presented Ewa as the “incoming Senator of Central Senatorial District,” describing Etung as the core bedrock of Ewa’s campaign.
The coordinator cited the backing of Prince Ebuta Ayuk, grand patron of the APC Central Alliance, declaring that the local government stands fully united behind Ewa’s candidacies.
