Global beverage giant – Coca-Cola is making a significant investment in Burkina Faso, committing approximately 60 billion CFA francs to a new factory project. This ambitious undertaking with 25 billion CFA francs already expended, is set to bolster the nation’s economy and create substantial employment opportunities.

The expansive 6.7-hectare facility is being constructed by local Burkinabe companies, showing Coca-Cola’s commitment to leveraging local expertise and resources. According to Caroline Estelle Ouédraogo, CEO of Coca-Cola Burkina Faso, the project has already generated 105 jobs during its construction phase. Upon completion, the factory is projected to create between 500 to 600 direct jobs and an additional 3,000 indirect jobs, providing a considerable boost to the country’s employment landscape.

Beyond its industrial expansion, Coca-Cola has also demonstrated a strong commitment to social responsibility in Burkina Faso. In 2023, the company donated a substantial 5.3 billion CFA francs to support peace efforts within the nation. This dual focus on economic development and social stability shows Coca-Cola’s comprehensive approach to its operations in the West African country. The new factory is anticipated to significantly enhance local production capabilities and distribution networks for Coca-Cola products across the region.
