A Promise Fulfilled: Hon. Victor Abang Delivers Critical Road Infrastructure To ease Rural Dwellers

The longstanding transportation challenges faced by communities along the Mbube and Ndok axis in Ogoja linking Boki Local Government Area have been significantly alleviated, thanks to the intervention of Hon. Victor Abang, the Member representing Ikom/Boki in the House of Representatives. Abang today announced the completion of a crucial road construction project, fulfilling a personal commitment made just over a year ago.

The road, a stretch at the Ekumba Hill intersection along the 8km ancient route linking Mbube and Ndok, had become notoriously deteriorated. Recalling his experience on June 26, 2024, Hon. Abang described the perilous conditions that prompted his resolve.

“I drove from Okundi to Kakwagom, along a road I’ve known and passed through for years,” Abang stated. “But at the Ekumba Hill intersection… I was faced with a long-standing reality: the road had become dangerously bad and completely deteriorated. Even with our SUVs, we couldn’t gain traction or accelerate smoothly. The condition was so poor that my team and I had to alight from our vehicles to assess the situation.”

It was during this firsthand assessment that Hon. Abang made the decisive commitment to address the issue permanently. “This road, which means so much to our people, needed a permanent solution,” he emphasized.

Today, that promise has been delivered. “By the grace of God and with firm determination, I have facilitated the construction of this critical road infrastructure,” Abang proudly announced. He highlighted that this long-overdue intervention will now ensure “safer, seamless movement and promote trade and interaction among our communities.”

Hon. Abang extended his gratitude to the constituents for their support. “Thank you, our people, for your tremendous support. Let’s move forward, together, with our eyes set firmly on the goal,” he concluded, signaling continued dedication to infrastructural development in his constituency.
