SAGHEV, BENUE STATE – A principal’s residence in Benue State has been reportedly set ablaze in the early hours of Friday by enraged final-year students who accuse him of failing to register them for the 2025 National Examinations Council (NECO) examination.
The incident occurred at Gyutiev Model College, Saghev Ward, Guma Local Government Area, where students torched the home of Principal Isaac Yina.
According to reports, 178 students claim to have paid N85,000 each to Mr. Yina for their NECO registration. Their fury erupted upon discovering they had not been registered for the crucial examinations.
Authorities have yet to release an official statement regarding the incident and the extent of the damage to the principal’s residence remains unclear. It is also unknown if any arrests have been made.
