Breaking News: DSS Dismisses 115 Personnel in Major Internal Clear-Out

The Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria’s primary domestic intelligence agency, has announced the dismissal of 115 personnel as part of a sweeping internal reform agenda. The decision, revealed in public notice on Tuesday, marks one of the most significant clear-outs in the agency’s recent history.

The secret police confirmed the mass dismissal, stating the actions were taken “as part of the ongoing reforms in the Department of State Services (DSS).” The affected operatives were dismissed over a period spanning 2024 and 2025.

In an unusual move to ensure public awareness and prevent fraud, the DSS has advised the public to exercise caution. “Members of the public are therefore advised to desist from any official dealing with these individuals who have been dismissed by the Service,” the official statement read.

To aid in the identification of the now-former staff, the DSS took the step of publishing the names and pictures of all 115 dismissed personnel on its official website.

While the DSS statement did not specify the exact reasons for the dismissals, such large-scale personnel actions are typically linked to serious breaches of professional conduct, corruption, insubordination, or other misconduct deemed detrimental to the agency’s mission and reputation.

The move shows the commitment of the DSS leadership to clean up its ranks and enhance operational integrity.
