Cross River Boosts Cally Air Fleet with Additional Aircrafts

In a significant stride towards bolstering economic development, tourism and job creation, the Cross River State Government has acquired five new aircraft for its state airline, CallyAir. The first two aircraft were officially received on Thursday, July 24, 2025, in Abuja, with the remaining three expected to arrive in the coming weeks.

These new additions will bring Cally Air’s operational fleet to a total of seven aircraft, significantly increasing flight frequency and expanding its route network. The entire fleet is slated for a grand commissioning ceremony on August 12, 2025. The event is anticipated to draw key stakeholders from the aviation, tourism and business sectors.

Governor Bassey Edet Otu’s bold investment aims to more effectively connect Cross River State to other parts of Nigeria and globally. This initiative is expected to generate employment opportunities, invigorate the tourism and hospitality industries, and open new revenue streams for the state.

The Bombardier CRJ-1000 planes landed Abuja in the morning of Thursday July 24th, 2025, in company of the State Commissioner for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations, Honorable Oden Ewa.

This means that improved air access will enhance connectivity to popular tourist destinations such as the Obudu Mountain Resort, Qua Falls, Agbokim Waterfalls, Boki Green Ranch and ultimately, the renowned Calabar Carnival.
