Uyo, Akwa Ibom – In a significant political development for Akwa Ibom State, Governor Umo Eno officially joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) yesterday, with a grand reception held at the Goodwill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo.
The move, which Governor Eno described as a “bold, progressive step made in enlightened State interest,” was met with strong endorsement from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The President, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, warmly welcomed Governor Eno into the APC fold, hailing him as “a rare leader with vision and wisdom.” The President assured Governor Eno that aligning Akwa Ibom with the center would unlock greater dividends of democracy for the state.
Governor Eno expressed profound gratitude for the reception and the President’s encouraging words. He reiterated that his administration’s ARISE Agenda will remain the guiding light as Akwa Ibom embarks on this new political path.
He also acknowledged the crucial role played by the leadership of the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, and other APC stakeholders, who pledged their full support for Akwa Ibom’s future.
With this new alignment, Governor Eno stated his commitment to pursuing key projects, including the long-awaited Deep Seaport and expanding development across all 31 local government areas of the state. He specifically lauded President Tinubu’s commitment to subnational development, which he noted has empowered states to fund vital, life-changing projects.
“As I lead our people into this new season, I do so with courage, humility, and a deep resolve to move Akwa Ibom forward—ever, and backward—never,” Governor Eno declared, signaling a new chapter for the state’s political landscape and development trajectory.
