Guardiola Expresses Concern Over ‘Unhealthy’ Manchester City’s Squad Size

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has once again voiced his concerns over the size of his squad, stating that having too many players is “not healthy” for creating a good team atmosphere.

Speaking to reporters after City’s 4-0 victory against Wolves on Saturday, Guardiola’s comments followed his decision to leave both goalkeeper Ederson and forward Savinho out of the traveling squad. Both players have been the subject of recent transfer speculation.

Guardiola explained his position, stating, “I don’t want to leave players at home. It’s not healthy, you cannot create a good atmosphere to compete. Everyone has to feel they can play, they can help, they can compete with their mates to beat the opponent.”

The manager indicated that further player departures are likely before the transfer window closes on September 1. “The situation is what it is, and in the next two weeks we will talk with players, their agents, and find a solution,” he added.

Guardiola had previously addressed the issue in his pre-match press conference, suggesting that the current number of players is unsustainable for the season.
