Momoh Lauds NDDC, NEDC Achievements, Vows to Replicate Successes with New Regional Commissions

The Minister of Regional Development, Engr. Abubakar Momoh, has commended the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and the North East Development Commission (NEDC) for their significant achievements, citing them as proof of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda” in action.

Speaking on the performance of the agencies under his ministry’s supervision, Momoh noted that both commissions have delivered life-changing projects in their respective regions.

He pointed several key NDDC projects, including the 25.3km Ogbia–Nembe Road in Bayelsa State, the Okitipupa 132KV Transmission Substation in Ondo State and the Amufi Injection Substation in Edo State. Minister Momoh also mentioned thousands of solar streetlights and rural electrification initiatives that have brought power to communities across the Niger Delta.

For the NEDC, the Minister praised its extensive housing intervention, which has seen the completion of over 700 housing units for families displaced by insurgency in Borno, Yobe and Taraba States. He also cited the commission’s investments in mega schools, ICT centers, boreholes, health facilities and roads as crucial to restoring dignity to communities in the North-East.

Momoh stated that these successes demonstrate what can be achieved when development commissions are properly coordinated and supervised. He assured Nigerians that the newly established regional development commissions for the South-East, South-West, North-West, North-Central and South-South will be structured to replicate and surpass these achievements.

“The NDDC and NEDC have done well. They are evidence to what is possible when vision meets commitment. Nigerians should expect even more from the new development commissions,” Momoh said.

The Minister reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that every region experiences the impact of development, promising that the Ministry of Regional Development will continue to coordinate and monitor these agencies to ensure transparency, accountability and tangible results for ordinary Nigerians.
