‘Mountain Lion’ That Made School Go Into Lockdown Turned Out To Be a Fat Cat

Goff Elementary School in Moses Lake, Washington United States, went into lockdown after someone reported what they believed was a mountain lion near the school grounds.

Wildlife officials were called in and the school followed emergency procedures to keep students and staff safe.

After a full response, the supposed mountain lion was identified as a large domestic cat specifically, a fat cat eating a rat near the building.

The lockdown was lifted once the area was confirmed to be safe. Officials say it’s always better to be cautious, but this time the threat turned out to be nothing more than an oversized house cat with a big appetite.
