Police Raid Criminal Hideout in Cross River, Recover Guns

Following an attack on a police patrol team, the Cross River State Police Command raided a criminal hideout in Iso-Bendeghe, Boki Local Government Area, recovering five locally made guns and other dangerous weapons.

The raid was ordered by the Commissioner of Police, CP Rashid Bello Afegbua, after a patrol team from the 75 PMF was attacked on the night of August 5th. The patrol vehicle was damaged, but no personnel were injured.

A combined team of 75 PMF personnel and soldiers from the 245 Battalion, Ikom, led by the Divisional Police Officer for Boki, executed the raid on an abandoned hospital in the village, where the suspected hoodlums were camped. Upon seeing the security forces, the criminals fled into the bush, leaving behind five locally made guns, expended cartridges, machetes, clubs, motorcycles, cooking utensils and charms.

The Commissioner of Police has warned that the command will not tolerate attacks on any security personnel, especially while the state government is working to bring peace to the two warring communities in the area. He assured residents that security is in place and they can go about their normal businesses without fear.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ugbo Irene, issued the press release on behalf of the Commissioner of Police.
