Popular Nigerian singer, Alexander Adegbola Akande, widely known as 9ice, has shared details of a life-threatening “spiritual attack” he experienced in 2010. Speaking on a recent episode of “The Nancy Isime Show,” the “Gongo Aso” crooner disclosed that he vomited blood for six months.
9ice described the illness as a non-medical condition that forced him to leave his home. He revealed that he was eventually healed after being referred to an Ifa priest.
The singer, who identifies as a traditionalist rather than a Christian or Muslim, expressed his regret for not embracing his traditional beliefs earlier. “I just wished that I had known ifa at the beginning,” he said, citing the late musician Fela Kuti as an example of someone who was misunderstood for his traditional practices.
9ice, who has previously spoken about his traditional beliefs, used the interview to urge other Africans to embrace traditional religions.
