Professor Taoheed Adedoja, the Director-General of the Teachers Continuous Training Institute (TCTI) in Biase, has lauded the Cross River State Executive Council for giving its stamp of approval for emergency repair works on the dilapidated Calabar-Ikom Highway.

Professor Adedoja expressed deep satisfaction with the move, describing it as a “bold step and timely intervention.” He emphasized that the critical repair works, particularly targeting the Awi-Uyanga-Okomita corridor, are expected to drastically reduce travel time for trainees, resource persons and even visitors journeying to the TCTI from across the country.
The TCTI Director-General highlighted the adverse impact the poor road network has had before now on access to the Institute’s various training programs and activities in the past, making it difficult for education stakeholders to travel, and believes the rehabilitation will significantly improve accessibility to the area.
“I have just read that the Cross River State Executive Council has approved remedial works on the Calabar-Biase-Ikom Highway and I want to especially thank the State Governor, Senator Bassey Otu, because this huge development will provide more access to training, as a road condition is key to opening access to educational empowerments,” Professor Adedoja stated.
The TCTI DG further noted that the improved road conditions would bring more attention to the Institute in terms of training programs by enhancing both human and vehicular movements. “Additionally, it will ease the burden of commuters and enhance the overall transportation infrastructure to the region and Cross River State in general,” he concluded.
