Young Female Lawyer, Sister Abducted on way From Call To Bar Ceremony

A young female lawyer, Barrister Onyesom Peace Udoka, has reportedly been kidnapped alongside her sister just days after her Call to Bar ceremony. The abduction occurred on Friday, September 27, 2025, near Lokoja, Kogi State, as they were traveling home from Abuja.

Udoka, a graduate of Ambrose Alli University and the Nigerian Law School, was called to the bar on Tuesday, September 23, 2025. Her kidnapping was brought to public attention through a post on the social media platform X, shared by a colleague under the handle @Rhave_official.

According to the post, the kidnappers are demanding a N20 million ransom for the safe release of Udoka and her sister. A colleague’s plea for help was quoted in the public notice, stating, “My friend and colleague has been kidnapped on her way home from the Call To Bar ceremony. Please we need help. There’s a 20 million naira ransom on her and her sister.”

The incident has seen growing concerns about the persistent issue of insecurity and kidnappings in Nigeria, with Kogi State being a notable hotspot. This case serves as a sobering reminder of the urgent need for effective measures to combat the country’s security challenges.
