In its sustained crime fighting strategies, the Akim Police Division has recovered one locally-made pistol and five live cartridges.
The recovery occurred on the 18th September, 2025, at about 2020hrs, when the surveillance team on stop and search duty accosted two suspected armed robbers, while proceeding to commit a felony, one Obong Friday Nana, male, about 25 years of No. 2 Aba Street, off Eyo Ita Street, Calabar South and his cohort, who took to his heels.
It was upon the search of his person that all these, among others, were recovered, namely,
one (1) locally made pistol, five (5) live cartridges, criminal charms, a knife in his possession, etc.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Rashid Afegbua, psc, mnips, reacting to the recovery commented that the Command’s adoption of stop and search strategy creates a safe and stable environment, where criminal elements are denied the space to operate.
He appreciates members of the public for their understanding and support in the Command’s unflinching effort to keep the state safe, secure and stable.
