An Amarillo man, Anthony Bianchi, has been terminated from his job after showing up to his company’s Halloween party dressed in a costume deemed offensive and inappropriate by management and colleagues.
Bianchi was reportedly fired immediately after arriving at the party, where attendees expressed discomfort and upset over the costume.
Employee Defends Costume as a “Jäger-bomber” Joke
In a statement following his termination, Mr. Bianchi defended the costume, claiming it was intended as a harmless joke.
“This whole thing is an unfortunate misunderstanding. The whole point of the joke is that I’m a Jäger-bomber,” Bianchi said, referencing the popular cocktail. He added that he believed his coworkers were “fun and cool,” but now feels they are “far from it.”
“I’m not even from that part of the world—I’m an Italian guy raised in Texas. Looks like I learned my lesson,” he concluded.
The company, which was not named in the initial report, released a statement confirming Bianchi’s dismissal. They emphasized that their business has a zero-tolerance policy for offensive or inappropriate behavior.
Furthermore, the company claimed this was not Bianchi’s first issue with Human Resources. Last year, he allegedly faced scrutiny after asking a female employee if he could “sample some of her milk,” suggesting a pattern of inappropriate workplace conduct.
The incident shows the growing scrutiny surrounding workplace conduct and the limits of humor, especially in a professional setting.
