Nigeria has registered a significant achievement on the global sports stage, as Customs Assistant Samuel Kure of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) clinched the Bronze medal in the Men’s Javelin Throw event at the ongoing 2025 Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Kure, a decorated athlete and multiple-time National and African champion, delivered a remarkable performance on Wednesday, registering a throw of 76.01 metres to secure Nigeria’s spot on the medal table.
The event, which took place at the Prince Faisal bin Fahd Sport City Stadium, saw a tightly contested finish for the top spots. Kure finished just shy of Silver medallist Muhammad Yasir of Pakistan (76.04 metres). The Gold medal was claimed by Olympic Champion Arshad Nadeem, also of Pakistan, with an impressive throw of 83.05 metres.
In a press statement issued on November 20, 2025, the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) celebrated the achievement. Deputy Comptroller-General of Customs, Suleiman Chiroma, Commander of the Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), praised Kure for his excellence and commitment.
“Samuel Kure has once again demonstrated the discipline, resilience, and global competitiveness of officers of the Nigeria Customs Service. His achievement brings honour not only to the Service but to the entire nation,” said Chiroma, through a statement by TRADOC Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Customs I Afolabi Ajayi.
Kure’s medal reinforces Nigeria’s reputation in athletics, particularly in field events. The 2025 Islamic Solidarity Games are running from November 7 to 21 in the Saudi Arabian capital.
The Customs Assistant is expected to return to the country in the coming days, where he will be met by colleagues and sports officials eager to laud his success and dedication to national representation.
