Senator Ekpenyong Secures N55 Million Federal Govt Postgraduate Scholarships for 11 C’River Indigenes

The constituency office of Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong has announced the facilitation of prestigious Federal Government Postgraduate Scholarships for eleven constituents from Cross River State for the 2025 academic session. The initiative is a commitment to advancing human capital development among young Cross Riverians.

Each of the eleven successful beneficiaries was awarded a scholarship valued at ₦5,000,000 (Five Million Naira). This total package, amounting to ₦55,000,000, is intended to cover tuition fees and living expenses for one academic session in various Nigerian universities, aligning with approved scholarship guidelines.

According to a statement signed by Ted Inyang, the Senior Legislative Aide, the beneficiaries emerged following a rigorous and competitive process involving application, screening, and interviews.

The successful scholars will be pursuing Master’s degrees across diverse disciplines at institutions including the University of Calabar (UNICAL), University of Cross River State (UNICROSS), Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, and Rivers State University.

A beneficiary of the scholarship, Mr. Eugene Upah, has expressed gratitude to Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong for facilitating the award.

Upah said the grant will enable him pursue another master’s program, having previously earned a first degree in the same discipline.

He appreciated the Senator’s generosity, noting that even though he is not from the Senator’s Senatorial district.

“It’s a wonderful gesture, and I’m truly grateful to Senator Ekpenyong for his support,” Upah said.

“I thank him for his large heart and noble act. I’m looking forward to making the most of this opportunity”, he said.

In his congratulatory message, Senator Ekpenyong encouraged the beneficiaries to maintain discipline, focus and commitment throughout their academic pursuits.

He expressed confidence that upon graduation, they would utilize their enhanced skills and knowledge to make meaningful contributions to the development of Cross River State and the nation at large.
