There are strong indications that the camp of Governor Siminalayi Fubara is currently facing internal tension as a prominent ally, Edison Ehie, is reportedly mounting serious pressure on the Governor to replace his running mate, Professor Ngozi Odu.
Reliable sources within the Rivers Brick House political circle revealed that Edison Ehie has been actively pushing for a change in the deputy gubernatorial candidate ahead of the next election cycle.
According to the information, barely two days ago, Ehie instructed his close associate, Isaac Umejuru, to mobilise key stakeholders from Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area (ONELGA) to visit Governor Fubara and formally demand the substitution of Prof. Ngozi Odu with a new deputy candidate.
The move is said to be causing serious cracks within the Fubara political camp, with the development already generating heated discussions among loyalists and stakeholders.
This latest power play is coming at a time when political calculations and realignments are intensifying in Rivers State. Prof. Ngozi Odu, who has been Fubara’s deputy, appears to be facing strong opposition from certain power blocs within the governor’s structure.
Further details on the identity of the preferred replacement and the Governor’s direct response to the pressure are still awaited as events continue to unfold rapidly.
