Breaking: Texas Flood Death Toll Rises to 67, Search Continues for Missing Children

Rescue teams continued a desperate search into Sunday for over 20 children still missing after devastating floods killed at least 67 people in central Texas. At least 21 children are confirmed among the fatalities in what Texas GOP Congressman Chip Roy described as a “once-in-a-century flood. Officials reported that at least four girls from a summer camp were found dead, included in the rising child death toll.

Among the confirmed victims are 13-year-old Blair and 11-year-old Brooke, whose father shared their tragic loss with CNN on Saturday night. He described Blair as a “gifted student with a generous, kind heart” and Brooke as “like a light in any room, people gravitated to her.”

More than 11 girls and one counselor remain unaccounted for from Camp Mystic, an all-girls Christian summer camp located along the Guadalupe River, which was ravaged by the fast-rising waters.

The unexpected flash flooding struck on Friday after torrential rain along the Guadalupe River. The destructive force of the waters, surging just before dawn on Friday, washed out homes and swept away vehicles. Hundreds of people in the region have since been rescued or evacuated.
