In a move that shows the power of mentorship and determination, the Director-General of the Teachers Continuous Training Institute (TCTI), Professor Taoheed Adedoja, has congratulated his Driver, Mr. Owali Ikiko, following his graduation with the 2026 set of the National Open University of Nigeria, NOUN, where he earned a B.Sc in Security and Criminology Studies with Second Class Upper Honours.

Mr. Ikiko, a Biase native, popularly known as “Bishop,” is serving as the DG’s driver for the last five years since Prof. Adedoja’s appointment. He remained committed to his duties while pursuing his part time degree program.

An elated Prof. Adedoja, who awarded Ikiko a full scholarship in 2022, praised the achievement as the result of dedication and perseverance. He described Ikilo as “a dedicated, loyal and committed aide.”

Findings show that Ikiko is among several Cross River State indigenes who are benefitting from Prof. Adedoja’s scholarship schemes. The DG has maintained the programme since his tenure as Chairman, Governing Council, Federal College of Education, Obudu, and continued it at TCTI, Biase.

“I am so happy for Bishop, especially because I witnessed him start from the very beginning,” Adedoja said. “I provide scholarship assistance to help young people achieve their vision of education, “subject to satisfactory annual academic performance and good conduct”. I do these things to honour the memory of my late parents.
