The Cross River State Commissioner for Education, Senator Professor Stephen Odey, has cautioned private school owners under the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS) against closing their schools for a day celebration which held on Tuesday.
Speaking during a meeting with NAPPS executives in Calabar, Senator Odey emphasized that such events should not disrupt academic activities. He advised that where such celebrations coincide with school days, they should commence only after 12 noon to allow for normal academic work in the morning hours.
The Commissioner urged school heads to demonstrate sound leadership and maintain discipline, reiterating that the Ministry of Education frowns upon any activity that undermines the learning process.
In his response, the NAPPS Chairman, Pastor Abraham Osok, expressed appreciation to the Commissioner and Governor Bassey Otu for their continued support toward the growth of private education in the state. He also pledged the association’s commitment to comply fully with ministry guidelines and policies.
