Marylen Edem, a talented defender from Cross River State, has been invited to the Nigeria U-20 Women’s National Team, the Falconets as they prepare for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers.
The invitation was confirmed by sports reporter Ettah Emmanuel. Edem, who plays for Nasarawa Amazons, is from Creek Town, Odukpani Local Government Area, and is one of 35 players named in the provisional squad by head coach Moses Aduku.
Edem will join fellow Cross River players Stella Emperor and Fatima Uloko in the squad. Her call-up is a recognition of her consistent performance in Nigeria’s top women’s league and is seen as a source of pride for football in the state. Known for her strong defensive skills and composure, she is expected to strengthen the Falconets’ backline.
The Falconets are set to face Rwanda in a two-legged qualifier. The first leg will be held in Kigali on September 21, 2025, with the return leg scheduled for Ibadan on September 27, 2025. The team is aiming to qualify for the World Cup which will be held in Poland.
