PRESS RELEASE

My attention has been drawn to a series of social media posts and various political narratives that imply a disagreement between me and my elder brother and mentor, former Chief of Staff, Hon. Chief (Dr.) Martin Orim.

I wish to state clearly and without reservation that there has never been, and will never be, any rift between us, notwithstanding the efforts of some to sow seeds of discord. Our relationship, founded on mutual respect and shared aspirations, remains firm and unbroken.

At no time have I, directly or indirectly, authorized any person to issue statements or publish comments on my behalf that could be interpreted as hostile toward him or toward any other individual. Such conduct is inconsistent with my character, my values, and the standards of public responsibility I strive to uphold.

I therefore appeal to my supporters, friends, and well-wishers to exercise restraint and wisdom, mindful that power and authority come from God. I urge all to refrain from any words or actions capable of creating misunderstanding or division between me and my mentor, as the unity we share is vital to our common purpose and progress.

As we step into a new year, I extend my sincere wishes for a happy and prosperous New Year to all.

Rt. Hon. Sylvester Agabi Jnr.

Deputy Speaker
