Etung Still United for Otu, APC Despite Onor’s Presidential Ambition – C’River Health Commissioner

The Cross River State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Henry Egbe Ayuk, has declared that the people of Etung Local Government Area remain solidly behind Governor Bassey Otu and the All Progressives Congress, APC, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Governor Bassey Otu.

Speaking with journalists on Friday, Ayuk dismissed insinuations that the emergence of Senator Sandy Onor, an Etung indigene, as a presidential aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has divided the area politically.

According to him, the political stance of Etung has not changed, stressing that the Ejagham people have always aligned with the political mainstream since independence in 1960 and would not abandon that tradition over individual ambitions.

He expressed confidence that Etung will deliver bloc votes for Governor Otu and all APC candidates in 2027, noting that the governor’s performance has continued to boost the party’s acceptance at the grassroots.

Ayuk lauded Governor Otu for giving Etung unprecedented representation in government, pointing out that the local government currently produces a Federal Minister, the Secretary to the State Government, and the Commissioner for Health – a feat he said is historic.

He reaffirmed that Etung remains loyal to the APC and committed to the success of the Otu administration as political activities build up to 2027.
