Hon. Oden Ewa Condoles Prince Eka Williams, Describes Former Commissioner As Dedicated Public Servant

The news of the passing of my dear friend, big brother and colleague, Hon. Prince Eka Williams Abang, fondly known as “Submarine,” has left me deeply saddened.

Eka was a man of warmth, humility and uncommon commitment, a loving husband and father, a dependable friend, a dedicated public servant and a true son of Ikom and Cross River Central.

Our relationship went beyond politics. We were first business associates, friends and later colleagues in the State Executive Council. As Commissioner for Power and Renewable Energy, we worked closely together on the Electricity Regulatory Bill, as well as the Cross River Green Economic Commission and Council on Climate Change Bills. He brought passion, humility and dedication to the work of building a better Cross River.

What makes this loss especially painful is that I spent Eka’s final hours with him. We were together on Friday night with friends and associates, and on Saturday morning, we flew together to Abuja from Calabar. I could never have imagined that those would be our final moments together.

Life can be painfully unpredictable.

Cross River Central has lost a gem. Ikom has lost a worthy son. And I have lost a dependable friend and brother.

My thoughts and prayers are with his wife, children, family, friends and all those who mourn him.

May God grant us all the strength to bear this painful loss, and may the soul of Hon. Prince Eka Williams Abang rest in perfect peace. Amen!

Hon. Oden Ewa

APC Central Senatorial District Candidate, Cross River State.
