Kwarra LG Chairman Rejects Senator Mustapha’s N200M Hospital Project Over Alleged Feud with Governor

The Chairman of Ilorin East Local Government Area, Mallam Lukman Agbelere has openly declared his refusal to approve a N200 million hospital renovation project facilitated by Senator Saliu Mustapha. Agbelere cited the Senator’s alleged strained relationship with the Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq as the reason for his decision.

Agbelere made the controversial statement during the inauguration of the Sardauna Ngeri Foundation, a political support group. The project in question is the renovation of the Awodi Primary Health Care Centre, which South South Digest gathered was facilitated by Senator Mustapha through the 2025 Appropriation Act.

The chairman stated he had rejected the project and had already commenced renovations on the facility himself. He further asserted his readiness to take over any other projects the Senator might be planning to execute within the local government.

This development shows a growing political rift within the state, potentially impacting the execution of constituency projects.
