The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced the appointment of Namibia’s Antsino to officiate the highly anticipated 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) final between Nigeria and Morocco. The match is set to be a thrilling conclusion to the tournament.
Antsino’s selection comes as no surprise to those who have followed the competition, as she has consistently been one of the most composed and reliable referees throughout the WAFCON. Her appointment marks a historic moment, as she becomes the first Namibian official to take charge of a WAFCON final.
She will be joined by a seasoned team of officials. Alice Umutesi of Rwanda will serve as Assistant Referee 1, while Senegal’s Tabara Mbodji will be Assistant Referee 2. Both assistants have received praise for their precise judgment and steady performances during the tournament, promising a well-officiated match.
In the crucial Video Assistant Referee (VAR) booth, Rwanda’s Salima Mukansanga will be at the helm. Mukansanga is a recognized trailblazer in global football officiating, and her extensive experience is expected to be invaluable in ensuring fair play during this high-stakes encounter.
