In a commendable display of grassroots outreach and commitment to education, Honorable Eneji Sam Ashibi, the Leader of Council and Councillor representing Utugwang North Ward in Obudu Local Government Area has intervened to support primary school pupils in his constituency.
During an unscheduled visit to UPE Primary School Ukuwtia and CPS Primary School Ejakpa in Utugwang North, Honorable Ashibi offset school fees for a number of students and distributed exercise books to those in greatest need, significantly easing the financial burden on their parents and guardians.
Honorable Ashibi who is also the Leader of Leaders in Cross River State, emphasized that the initiative stems from a deep-seated desire to reach out to the less privileged in rural communities and alleviate their sufferings. He expressed intention to sustain and expand this outreach, with future plans including the distribution of uniforms and sandals to pupils across schools in the area.
“I am genuinely touched by what I witnessed in some of these schools,” Honorable Ashibi stated during his visit. “Some pupils are still without basic items like shoes or writing materials. This prompted me to provide immediate assistance through school fees and exercise books.”
The Council Leader underscored the Cross River State Government’s passion for investing in education. “The state Governor is passionate about investing in education and we must all do our best to support in whatever way that we can,” he asserted. He also lauded the efforts of the Obudu Council Chairman in working to improve the lives of the local populace.
Calling upon his colleagues, Honorable Ashibi urged them to replicate such gestures of support within their respective localities in whatever way they can. He noted that this serves as a reminder of how efforts by local government officials can directly impact the lives of the rural dwellers, particularly in the area of basic education.
