Senator Austin Akobundu’s media office has issued a strong disclaimer debunking claims that the senator endorsed a chairman for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Abia State.
The denial follows a report circulating in some media outlets that suggested Senator Akobundu was among those who signed a communique endorsing Deacon Iyke Nwoke as the ADC State Chairman.
According to a statement released on August 5, 2025, by Jude Ndukwe on behalf of the senator’s media office, the report is “untrue” and a “manipulative machination of desperate elements.”
“There is no way Senator Austin Akobundu, a PDP Senator, would have involved himself in the activities of another party to the extent of endorsing a chairman for it,” the statement read.
The senator’s office condemned the use of his “goodwill to gain validation” and sow confusion. They urged those responsible for the false claims to “desist from such acts forthwith.”
