Residents of Ojuk North and Ojuk South wards in Akamkpa Local Government Area, Cross River State, today received crucial relief materials, thanks to a compassionate intervention facilitated by Onun (Dr.) Emil Inyang, the Member representing Akamkpa/Biase Federal Constituency at the National Assembly. This initiative, executed in collaboration with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), addresses the aftermath of a recent devastating windstorm that swept through the area.

The distribution event, held at Mfamosing, saw Prof. Uti Egbai, Director General of Onun (Dr.) Emil Inyang’s campaign, underscore the lawmaker’s commitment to alleviating the suffering of his constituents. “He is just responding to the anger of nature by ensuring that at least his people have something in their stomach while he liaises with other interventionist organizations to ameliorate the suffering of the people,” Prof. Egbai stated.
He also announced ongoing plans for a comprehensive medical outreach program for Akamkpa residents, emphasizing the critical link between health and overall well-being.
The relief package included a variety of essential food items designed to provide immediate succor to those affected by the natural disaster. Among the distributed goods were bags of rice, bags of garri, cartons of spaghetti, cartons of tomatoes, cartons of seasonings, and bags of salt.
The event was well-attended by prominent local figures, including Hon. (Princess) Magdalen Ekpe, Leader of the Akamkpa 8th Legislative Assembly, and Hon. Maurice Okon, Supervisor for Health in Akamkpa Local Government Area. Community leaders, as well as men, women, and youths from the affected wards, were present to receive the much-needed aid.
Onun (Dr.) Emil Inyang, who was elected to the Federal House of Representatives in 2023, has consistently demonstrated a focus on community development and welfare in his constituency, as reflected in various projects and initiatives. His office’s proactive engagement with NEMA highlights a strategic approach to disaster relief and community support. NEMA, as the federal agency responsible for disaster management in Nigeria, frequently collaborates with state and local governments, as well as elected officials, to provide assistance to communities affected by natural disasters, including windstorms that are common in various parts of the country.
This recent intervention further solidifies Onun (Dr.) Emil Inyang’s reputation for unwavering commitment to improving the socioeconomic well-being of the people of Akamkpa and Biase Federal Constituency, positioning him as a beacon of hope in times of crisis.
