‘You Don’t Want To Clap, Whether You Clap, Or Not, When You Come To Abuja, You’ll Miss Your Road’ –Wike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has said that Abuja is going through a major makeover due to massive infrastructure projects, and that some areas of the city would be unrecognisable to those who have been there before.

During his commencement address at the University of Port Harcourt, Wike made the comments. Channels Television said that the minister extended an invitation to Nigerians to come to the capital and see what he called a “huge infrastructure revolution” happening all around the Federal Capital Territory right now.

According to Wike, who was speaking about the development strategy of the current administration, many of the projects that are almost finished were started by earlier administrations. He disclosed that the FCT Administration had been instructed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to finish all ongoing and abandoned projects before beginning any new ones.

Regardless of who is in power, the minister stressed that governance is an ongoing effort. He stated that it is unfair to disregard initiatives started by former officials just because they are inherited from a prior administration. On the contrary, he emphasised that getting them done should be the top priority so that people can reap the benefits.

Wike claims that the present government is still dedicated to improving the capital city’s mobility, connection, and development via the delivery of infrastructure. Building and repairing roads and other essential infrastructure is already yielding tangible results in several parts of Abuja, he said.

The minister made a humorous remark during his speech, implying that those who refuse to acknowledge the current events will come to terms with the magnitude of the changes when they visit Abuja. According to him, some tourists may have trouble navigating the city as they used to due to all the construction and renovations.

Those asking cab drivers for directions may remember Wike’s remarks on the size of the development happening in the Federal Capital Territory, which he made to emphasise the quick speed of change.

According to him, “You don’t want to clap, whether you clap, (or) you don’t clap, when you come to Abuja, you will miss your road.”
