The executive governor of Cross River State, His Excellency, Senator Prince Bassey E. Otu has commenced another round of thorough account taking of projects being executed by the current Local Government Chairmen in the 18 Local Government Areas of the state.

The exercise, according to the governor, who is being represented by one of his aides in charge of Projects, Programmes, Monitoring and Evaluation (PPM&E), Mr Raphael Morphy Adoga, aims to determine the quantity of projects executed by the Council Chairmen thus far, since their inauguration on Monday, 4th November, 2024. “This exercise, although routine, is primarily designed to verify the information provided by the Chairmen to the Department of Projects, Programmes, Monitoring and Evaluation, and to assess the quality and quantity of work done at the respective locations, thereby enabling the department to accurately brief the governor on the Chairmen’s progress in their respective local government areas.”
The convoy of about seven vehicles transporting staff of the DPPM&E and other notable personalities was visibly seen moving round local government areas where projects are cited in the entourage of the Special Adviser, Mr. Raphael Morphy Adoga.
To date, the team has visited Yala and Bekwarra LGAs.
When questioned by the press for his opinion on the visit, the Special Adviser simply stated that the department retains the right to keep its findings confidential until a briefing is conducted before the governor, who directed the exercise.
In Yala LGA, the Chairman of the council, Elder Dr. Fred Okem, his vice, Chief Godwin Odama, and several other government officials were present, leading the entourage to project locations and other critical areas requiring urgent attention. Meanwhile, none of the elected or appointed officials of Bekwarra local government area were available to attend to the team from the DPPM&E, led by the Special Adviser, Mr. Adoga.
The exercise, according to the team lead, will continue the following day in other local government areas.
