Lady Alleges Boyfriend Threatened to Release Intimate Video After She Demanded Loan Repayment

A Nigerian lady, Gift Akpan, has publicly shared a harrowing account of her brief relationship with a man named Odudu Macaulay, alleging he defrauded her of over N500,000 and later resorted to blackmail with an intimate video.

Akpan’s ordeal, which she detailed in a social media post, began after she agreed to date Macaulay in July, following months of his advances since January. She claims that almost immediately, Macaulay began borrowing substantial sums of money from her under the guise of financial struggles, including house projects and his NYSC registration.

According to Akpan, the loans quickly accumulated to a staggering N500,000, with additional costs for food, transport, and a damaged phone screen bringing her total losses closer to N600,000.

“We were not even two weeks into the relationship when he started begging me to lend him money,” Akpan recounted, explaining her decision to lend him the funds despite his obvious financial issues. “I didn’t want it to look like I was rejecting him just because he was broke.”

Key alleged transactions include:

N50,000 and then N100,000 for cement and house plastering.

N50,000 for NYSC registration.

N250,000 to settle an alleged debt for zinc to avoid public embarrassment.

N50,000 for house rent arrears.

Macaulay allegedly promised to repay the full amount by August, but Akpan claims he repeatedly failed to do so, offering numerous excuses.

Akpan claims her trust in Macaulay, who she says presented himself as a “pastor” and moved with “respected people,” began to erode as she discovered inconsistencies in his story.

She alleges she found out he was still in a serious relationship with another woman, a fact he had allegedly concealed by claiming to be “single to stupor.” This discovery, coupled with his constant financial demands, led Akpan to terminate the relationship.

“I clearly told him I do not want the relationship anymore,” she stated, adding that she was primarily focused on recovering her money.

The situation escalated when Akpan went to Macaulay’s house to demand the outstanding balance of the loan. She reports that after persistent dragging, he paid her N200,000 and promised the rest the following morning.

However, the final confrontation took a dark turn. After rejecting his plea for a second chance, Akpan claims she was recorded while bathing.

“[He] showed me the video and said if I tried anything ‘stupid,’ he would publish my noodles [an apparent euphemism for the intimate video],” Akpan alleged.

Macaulay later reportedly sent the remaining N310,000 after selling a fridge and generator. Akpan maintains that despite receiving the balance of the primary loan, her total financial loss, including unreturned money for the damaged phone and other expenses, remains substantial.

Akpan concluded her post by urging readers to consider her plight: “I did not do anything wrong, the deception was becoming too much and I had to wise up and when he knew I had wised up, he started threatening me with my noodles.”

As of press time, Odudu Macaulay has not publicly responded to the allegations. The publication of the post has sparked outrage and debate online regarding financial abuse in relationships and the serious issue of digital blackmail.
