The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, inaugurated its Central Coordination Committee for the 2026 National Convention at the partyโs National Secretariat in Abuja, placing the Managing Director/CEO of the South-South Development Commission (SSDC), Ms. Usoro Akpabio at the center of convention preparations.


In a ceremony attended by top party leaders, national officers, and committee members, Ms. Akpabio was formally appointed Secretary of the Venue Committee, a role pivotal to the logistical and operational coordination of the national convention. She is expected to bring her wealth of expertise and administrative experience to bear in ensuring the overall success of the event.
Delivering the inaugural address, APC National Chairman Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda reiterated the importance of the 2026 Convention as a showcase of internal democracy and unity. He urged the committee to uphold the highest standards of transparency, efficiency, and inclusiveness in all its preparations, stressing that the convention should reflect the partyโs commitment to democratic values and organizational excellence.
In his acceptance speech, the newly appointed Committee Chairman, His Excellency, Aminu Bello Masari, expressed gratitude for the confidence placed in the team. Masari pledged that the committee would work with diligence and integrity to ensure a smooth and successful convention process, calling on APC members nationwide to support the effort through cooperation and shared purpose.
The inauguration marks a key milestone in the partyโs roadmap toward its March 27โ28, 2026, National Convention, and with Ms. Akpabioโs leadership in venue coordination, the APC underscores its focus on meticulous planning and professional execution.
