Nigerian Army Crushes Terror Enclaves: 20 Arrested, 9 Rescued in 24-Hour Blitz

The Nigerian Army has dealt a massive blow to criminal networks across the country following a high-intensity, 24-hour “blitz” operation. The synchronized strikes, spanning the North East, North West, and North Central theaters, resulted in the arrest of 20 high-profile suspects, the rescue of nine kidnap victims, and the recovery of a cache of arms and ammunition.

Army Headquarters confirmed on Monday that the operations have effectively disrupted terrorist logistics chains, denying remnant groups any “breathing space” to coordinate further attacks.

In the North East, elite troops from the 21 Special Armoured Brigade conducted a surgical cordon-and-search operation at Ngurosoye Village in Bama, Borno State.

Results: 14 suspects were apprehended, including individuals linked to the notorious kidnapper Baba Ali.

Large quantities of fertilizer—frequently used by insurgents to manufacture Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs)—were confiscated. Combined forces forced insurgents to abandon their positions, seizing bicycles and essential supplies as the terrorists fled.

Troops of the 4 Demo and 2 Battalions thwarted major criminal activities in Kaduna State, focusing on the Pan Daudu and Kuyello areas.

Livestock: Gallant soldiers intercepted cattle rustlers, forcing them to abandon 96 herd of livestock.

During a fierce engagement at Lahin Dan Auta, troops successfully rescued three kidnapped victims, who have since been reunited with their families.

In Benue State, Sector 1 of Operation WHIRL STROKE (OPWS) targeted human traffickers and armed gangs. Troops recovered one AK-47 rifle, two magazines, and 27 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, effectively dismantling a dangerous local cell.

The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its “relentless resolve” to secure the lives and property of all citizens. In a statement following the operations, the Army urged the public to remain vigilant and continue providing timely information to support ongoing efforts.

“Together, we are building a safer Nigeria, where peace and progress are guaranteed for all,” the Army stated.
