In a major step toward modernizing the nation’s bureaucracy, Galaxy Backbone (GBB) has officially rolled out its Government Service Portal (GSP). The platform is designed to serve as a central digital gateway, streamlining how citizens and businesses interact with federal ministries and agencies.
Announced in GBB’s Integrated Digital Transformation Strategy (IDTS) Q1 2026 newsletter, the initiative marks a departure from the traditional “silo” model of governance, moving instead toward a unified, citizen-centric ecosystem.
A “One-Stop Shop” for Public Services
The GSP aims to eliminate the administrative bottlenecks that have historically plagued Nigerian public service delivery. By integrating various functions into a single interface, the portal simplifies essential tasks including identity management to streamline registration processes, simplified pathways for corporate registration and fiscal services through integrated tax and payment processing systems.
By providing a coherent access point, GBB intends to reduce the time and physical effort previously required to navigate multiple government offices.
The rollout is not merely a software update but is backed by a robust technical framework designed to ensure reliability and security.
The strategy is supported by ensuring high-speed connectivity for users nationwide, creating cloud platforms to provide scalable storage and processing for government data, cybersecurity systems to protect sensitive citizen information from digital threats.
The GSP is a cornerstone of Pillar 2 of the IDTS framework, which focuses on building integrated digital ecosystems. This development is a key component of Nigeria’s broader Digital Transformation Strategy (DTS) 2025–2028.
“The platform is addressing longstanding inefficiencies by creating a single, coherent access point for services that were previously dispersed across multiple agencies,” GBB stated in their quarterly report.
As Nigeria continues its push toward a fully digital government, the success of the GSP will be a critical metric in determining the country’s readiness for a modern, tech-driven economy.
