Professor Taoheed Adedoja has officially concluded his five-year tenure as the pioneer Director-General of the Cross River State Teachers Continuous Training Institute (TCTI), Biase, leaving behind a track record of digital literacy growth and major educational reform in the state.
Taking the helm in 2021, the former Minister led the institute through a transformative period, establishing TCTI as a key hub for teacher professional development in Nigeria.
Under his leadership, TCTI spearheaded the retraining of over 7,000 primary and secondary school teachers across Cross River State, emphasizing science, vocational skills and emerging digital technologies.
Adedoja’s administration also prioritized inclusive education, rolling out targeted training programs for youth and persons with disabilities, including the visually impaired, deaf and wheelchair users.
A major highlight of his tenure was securing licensing from the American body CERTIPORT, establishing TCTI as a center for global employability certifications.
Addressing the public through his official Facebook Page on his departure, Prof. Adedoja said:
“Today I officially ended my term as the pioneer Director-General of the Cross River State Teachers Continuous Training Institute, (TCTI) Biase, after five years of transformative service.
Stepping down after leading the Institute since 2021 fills me with a deep sense of fulfillment. l am leaving behind a legacy of educational reform, having overseen the TCTI into a nationally recognized center for teacher professional development.
Over the past five years, my management team and I spearheaded the retraining of over 7,000 primary and secondary school teachers across Cross River State, focusing on science, vocational education, digital literacy and emerging skills.
We also prioritized inclusive education by creating specialized training programs tailored for youth and persons with disabilities, such as the blind, visually impaired, deaf and wheelchair users.
A major milestone of my tenure is securing licensing from American CERTIPORT, which establishes TCTI as one of Nigeria’s premier hubs for digital literacy, emerging skills and global employability certifications.
As an educationist, former World Bank Consultant, former Provost, Former Minister of Special Duties, former Minister of Sports, former Governing Council Chairman of two institutions, former SUBEB Chairman and former Commissioner for Education in Oyo State, I leveraged my experience and network to attract key partnerships to TCTI.
Let me express my sincere gratitude to His Excellency, Senator Governor Bassey Otu, Governor of Cross River State, for his steadfast support. My deep appreciation also to the former Governor, Senator Professor Sir Benedict Ayade CON for his vision in establishing TCTI and for entrusting me with the responsibility of serving as its pioneer Director-General.
I feel deeply honored by the fact that, despite the enormous human and intellectual capital in Cross River State, I, an indigene of Ibadan, Oyo State was trusted to lead a flagship institution like TCTI. I am grateful to the incumbent Governor for sustaining the confidence and the vision. I will always remain a friend and partner to Cross River State.
I am equally grateful to the State Commissioner for Education, Senator Professor Stephen Odey, for his support and goodwill.

With his departure, Professor Adedoja leaves the institute fully operational as a national model for continuous teacher education and digital skills acquisition.
